    Customers say

Customers find this monitor to be a fantastic 1080p display that works well with Macs and gaming, offering good value for money as a low-cost secondary display. They appreciate its durability, ease of setup, and perfect size for sitting beside an iMac, with one customer noting its small bezel design. The color accuracy receives mixed - while some say the colors are relatively accurate, others mention a yellowish tint.

    Good Enough To Buy 4
I read plenty of reviews saying "mine went bad in one year!" or something similar to this nature. So my brother bought one. He loved the color upgrade and how crisp/sharp this monitor looked with his new customer gaming desktop. After one year, no issues. So I bought one. Again another year went by, no issues. So I bought a second one for myself (three screen setup, my laptop is on the left) as well as one for my fiancée. It's been over a year since the last two monitors have been bought and all of our monitors are still going strong. I've always used HP monitors (my last one is still working in my mother's office after buying it in 2010) and never had a problem so I can only assume there must have been delivery issues or factory issues out the gate for those select bunch who have faulty monitors. As for the monitor itself, the colors can be adjusted and there are multiple 1-click settings (cinematic, gaming, etc) to automatically change the look. I love playing League or watching Crunchyroll on these monitors. The colors are nearly comparable to my Samsung TV. Is this monitor going to suck you into some virtual 4K world where everything is perfect? Of course not. That's what $200+ models are for. But for less than $100 bucks, you really cannot go wrong with this monitor, as evident of our 4 purchases.

I am ecstatic about this purchase for several reasons. I haven't had a new monitor at home for several years, and they have come a long way since my last, 15-inch, square, LCD Samsung. I'm not knocking the Samsung monitor; it was great when new, but now it's just rather old, tired and dull.

I did quite a lot of research before buying. My employer reimburses up to $75 for a home monitor to use for days when we work from home, so I wanted to come as close as possible to that price. I also wanted to step up in size to a maximum of 22 inches (to fit into the monitor recess of my bureau). Additionally, I had hoped to get an LED rather than LCD monitor. For inputs, I wanted VGA to use with my old desktop which doesn't have HDMI, plus HDMI to use with my work laptop. Since I hadn't been in the market for a monitor for a long time, I wasn't sure if I was asking too much.

Well, I whittled the many possible choices I found down to this HP and an Asus with nearly identical specs. The Asus was priced $10 higher, but offered a $10 mail-in rebate. Well, I hate mail-in rebates, and I couldn't see me actually getting around to mailing it in and waiting 8 weeks for a $10 check that I would then have to take in to the bank to deposit. So I chose the HP - and, boy was I glad I did!

I am so happy with this monitor! First of all, it fit perfectly in the space that was waiting for it, thanks to accurate measurements given in the product details in amazon.com. For setup, I thought I would be in for the usual new computer equipment nightmares where nothing works at first, then you have to jump through hoops, drivers, reboot umpteen times, go back to the manual to find out what you did wrong, find out that the manual is only on disc but now you can't read it because your new monitor isn't working yet, yadayadayada... But no, setup was a breeze! I was done in about 15 minutes, the monitor worked first time on both my old desktop with VGA and new laptop with HDMI. There was one slight glitch that the initial picture was stretched sideways on the VGA connection to my old desktop, but after I installed the software from the supplied disc it worked fine. The picture via the HDMI connection from the new laptop worked perfectly first time, with no need to install anything. As for switching between VGA and HDMI, you just press a button on the underside of the frame.

The picture is great, for my needs, at least. Bright and crisp, with no evident lag when running videos. As another reviewer put it perfectly: "Is this a stunning, perfect display? No, not really. But it is perfect as a low-cost secondary display for a laptop.". I totally agree with that. My needs are average, I just only use it for work and for an occasional change from my personal laptop to look at a bigger screen to watch a video or something.

I mentioned the accuracy of the stated product dimensions earlier. Well, there was one thing that confused me a bit. At the top left on the amazon.com page the bottom image is a silhouette of a person standing at a desk with the monitor in front of him. There is a vertical measurement shown there of 20 in/49 cm. I assumed this to be the height with the stand (thinking that the height in the Technical Details was without the stand). I thought this would be a problem, as I only had about 19 in vertical height where I wanted to site it. Well, when it arrived, there was no problem, as the assembled unit with the stand is, in fact, 15.8 in, not 20 in, so I'm not sure what that 20 in in the silhouetted man picture represents.

This monitor is an outstanding value and I have no hesitation in recommending it!

I am a university student majoring in statistics. I mainly do assignments with laptops or play online games. However, when I was watching a small monitor on my laptop for a long time, my eyes became very tired and I could not sit in front of my desk for a long time. Thus, I decided to buy this HP 21-inch monitor and connect to my laptop by using HDMI cable to alleviate my eye strain. As a consumer of this monitor for a month, I would like to review the product in three aspects: shipping, design and performance.

      Shipping
First of all, I was very satisfied with the delivery status. I used to go shopping online, and sometimes I had to deal with the contents of the inside because of the bad shipping condition. However, this monitor has been shipped securely in a thick cardboard box. In addition, styrofoam and buffers were used to minimize damage to objects inside. The most important thing of this product, the LED monitor, was covered with thick acrylic to protect it safely. In addition, each monitor component was packaged individually. I have not abandoned shipping boxes and wrapping paper yet. I think it will be useful later when I have to move the monitor to other place.
      Design
I did not have a big desk, but I always put a lot of books and notebooks on my desk. So I was worried that there would be a place to put this monitor on my desk. This 21-inch monitor was incredibly thin and lightweight and did not take up much of the desk. One drawback is that I cannot lean the monitor forward or lean backward. Still, this flat monitor is a well-designed monitor.

      Performance
What I used to use was a Dell’s old monitor, which was not compatible with my new laptop and would show dead pixels. When I connected this new monitor with my laptop, it has a very clean picture quality and it showed Blu-ray movies without interruption. I was also able to customize brightness, contrast, color temperature, and usage mode. I mainly used basic mode, document, movie, and game. I changed the mode to suit each use, which made it more expressive and more usable.

I have never felt uncomfortable using this monitor for about a month. I strongly recommend this product to s who use a small monitor and feel uncomfortable.

I bought this monitor in 2016 and so far, it's been great! It's only been in the past year that 2 dead pixel lines have shown up but it's been through much moving around and awkward positions that I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. If you want a good, affordable monitor that will last a while, I would recommend this one.

I am using this as my secondary monitor which means exclusively extra excel/browser screens and video use.

      Pros:
      - Price
      - IPS
      - No dead pixels
      - Calibration profiles freely available online
      - Really good colour replication (pre and post calibration)
      - Narrow edging on sides and top

      Cons
      - 7 ms response time and 60 Hz refresh rate
(if we're being realistic though, this isn't a con so much as a fact of the price point)

I'll update this if anything changes.

I use it for creating photo books in conjunction with my laptop. My husband is a nature photographer and uses it as well. He had a 10 yr old Dell monitor before and the difference with this one is huge.
